FAQ
Toll-free number FAQs
Who pays for calls to an 0800 number?
The business that owns the 0800 number pays for incoming calls, so the call is free for the caller. With SureTel, incoming 0800 calls cost the business R0.99 per minute excl. VAT, plus R299 per number per month excl. VAT.
What's the difference between 0860 and 0861?
Both are share-call numbers: the caller pays part of the call cost and the business pays the rest. The difference is only the number range. SureTel charges the same for both — R299 per number per month excl. VAT and R0.19 per minute excl. VAT for incoming calls.
Can calls to my 0800 number ring on my cellphone?
Yes. When the number routes to a SureTel Cloud PBX, calls can ring on the mobile app on your cellphone, as well as on desk phones and queues.
Can I keep my existing 0800 or 086 number?
Existing eligible 0800, 0860 and 0861 numbers can usually be ported to SureTel. Eligibility and timing are confirmed during the porting process.
Can I see call reports for my toll-free number?
When your number routes to SureTel Cloud PBX, you can use its call logs, queue information and configurable reports to review incoming call activity.
Do I need a Telkom line for an 0800 number?
No. SureTel toll-free and share-call numbers run over your internet connection and route to a Cloud PBX, the mobile app, your existing PBX or a call centre — no copper line is needed.
Is there a contract?
The contract term is confirmed on your quote, together with your numbers, call rates and any Cloud PBX or SIP trunk services.
Can I have an 0800 and a geographic number together?
Yes. Many businesses keep a local 010, 012 or 021 number alongside an 0800 or 0860 number. Geographic numbers are R10 per number per month excl. VAT.
