1. About this Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy describes the cookies, local/session storage entries and
third-party tags that may be set when you visit the SureTel website. It is
written for visitors to suretel.co.za and any related marketing
subdomains. It does not cover cookies set inside customer-facing portals
operated by third parties (for example, your Cloud PBX administration portal),
which are governed by the provider of that portal.
2. What cookies and similar technologies are
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store. Some cookies are set by SureTel directly (first-party cookies). Others are set by services we use, such as Google or Zoho (third-party cookies). Cookies may be session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent cookies (kept until they expire or you delete them).
We also use related browser-storage technologies — localStorage and
sessionStorage — to remember things like your consent choice and the page
or campaign that brought you to the site. These are not strictly cookies, but
for this policy we treat them the same way.
3. Categories of cookies we use
We group cookies and storage into four categories:
- Strictly necessary — required for the site to work and to remember your cookie-consent choice. Always on.
- Functional — remember basic context such as the campaign or referring page that brought you to the site, so an enquiry can be routed and credited correctly.
- Analytics — help us understand how the site is used so we can improve it (for example, Google Analytics 4).
- Marketing — measure the performance of our advertising and help us reach the right audiences (for example, Google Ads conversion tracking and Zoho's Google Ads bridge).
Analytics and Marketing tags only load after you give consent through the cookie banner. Strictly necessary and functional items are described below and may be set without consent because the site cannot run without them.
4. Cookies and storage on this site
The table below lists the cookies and storage entries the SureTel website may set. Items marked [to be confirmed] are still being verified by SureTel and should be treated as on-page review markers until confirmed.
| Name | Set by | Type | Category | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
stl_consent | SureTel (first-party) | Cookie | Strictly necessary | ~180 days | Stores your cookie-banner choice (accept / reject / per-category) so we don't keep asking. |
suretel.consent.v1 | SureTel (first-party) | localStorage | Strictly necessary | Until cleared | Mirror of stl_consent used by the site code to read your consent state without re-parsing the cookie. |
stl_attr | SureTel (first-party) | Cookie | Functional | ~90 days | Remembers the campaign and landing context (UTM parameters, GCLID, landing page, referrer, first/last touch) so enquiries can be attributed correctly. |
suretel.attribution.v1 | SureTel (first-party) | sessionStorage | Functional | Browser session | Per-session mirror of stl_attr used by forms when you submit an enquiry. |
_ga | Google Analytics 4 | Cookie | Analytics | ~2 years | Distinguishes unique visitors for Google Analytics. |
_ga_5PGZK4BSHN | Google Analytics 4 | Cookie | Analytics | ~2 years | Maintains the Google Analytics session for SureTel's GA4 property. |
_gcl_au | Google Ads (via Conversion Linker) | Cookie | Marketing | ~90 days | Stores click information so Google Ads conversions on this site can be measured. |
zc_gad | Zoho CRM (zcga.js Google Ads bridge) | Cookie | Marketing | [to be confirmed] | Used by Zoho CRM's Google Ads integration to associate ad clicks with enquiries. |
_zcsr_tmp | Zoho CRM | Cookie | Marketing | [to be confirmed] | Session token used by Zoho's tracking script. |
zfccn | Zoho | Cookie | Marketing | [to be confirmed] | Used by Zoho services loaded by the tracking script. |
JSESSIONID | Zoho | Cookie | Marketing | Session | Session identifier used by Zoho services. |
_GRECAPTCHA | Google reCAPTCHA | Cookie | Strictly necessary | ~6 months | Used by Google reCAPTCHA to score traffic and protect our forms from bots and abuse. |
NID | Google Maps | Cookie | Strictly necessary | Google default | Set by Google when the Maps JavaScript API loads on pages that use the coverage checker. Used by Google for security and basic preferences. |
| Lovable / Cloudflare hosting cookies | Lovable Cloud, Cloudflare | Cookie | Strictly necessary | [to be confirmed] | The hosting and CDN platforms behind the site may set short-lived cookies for routing, load balancing, security and abuse prevention. |
If you reject Analytics and Marketing in the cookie banner, the Google Analytics, Google Ads and Zoho tracking cookies above are not set. Strictly necessary and functional items still apply so the site, forms, security checks and attribution can work.
5. Third-party providers and tags
The SureTel website may load tags or scripts from the following providers. Analytics and marketing tags are only loaded after you give consent through the cookie banner. Strictly necessary services (reCAPTCHA, Google Maps) are loaded when needed for the relevant page or form.
- Google Tag Manager — container
GTM-WPVDGZ2, loaded from SureTel's server-side tagging endpoint atmetrics.suretel.co.za. Used to manage analytics and marketing tags below. - Google Analytics 4 — measurement ID
G-5PGZK4BSHN. Used to measure site usage and improve the site. Configured with Google Consent Mode v2 so that, until you opt in, GA4 is told that analytics and marketing consent are denied. - Google Ads — conversion ID
AW-11315990961. Used to measure ad conversions on the site (for example, completed quote requests). - Zoho CRM Google Ads bridge (
zcga.js) — links website ad clicks to enquiries in our CRM. Only loads after marketing consent. - Google reCAPTCHA v3 — protects our enquiry, quote and coverage forms from spam and abuse. Loaded by the form when you reach a page with one.
- Google Maps JavaScript API (with Places) — powers address lookup in the coverage checker. Loaded by the coverage checker when used.
- Lovable Cloud — hosts the website and its enquiry database.
- Cloudflare — provides DNS, CDN and security protection in front of the site.
Each of these providers acts as an independent controller or processor under POPIA in respect of the data they receive. Their own privacy and cookie notices apply to that processing.
6. Personal information and analytics
We do not send the personal information you give us in forms (name, company, contact details, address or free-text messages) into Google Analytics, Google Ads or any other advertising platform as event parameters or custom dimensions.
Some click events — for example, when a visitor clicks the phone number,
email address or WhatsApp link in our header or footer — include the
contact detail as a label. These are SureTel's own published business
contact details (for example, our sales phone number and sales@suretel.co.za),
not data the visitor supplied. They are recorded so we can measure how
often visitors use those contact methods.
The Google Ads conversion tracking we run measures completed actions on our own site (such as a successful quote request) and does not pass visitor contact details to Google as ad parameters.
7. Your choices and consent
When you first visit the SureTel website you'll see a cookie banner with three equally-prominent options:
- Reject all — only strictly necessary and functional items are used; no analytics or marketing tags load.
- Manage — choose Analytics and Marketing independently. Strictly necessary items remain on because the site cannot run without them.
- Accept all — Analytics and Marketing tags are allowed to load.
The default before you decide is deny: no analytics or marketing tags
are loaded, and Google Consent Mode v2 is set to denied for analytics,
ads, ad-user-data and ad-personalization signals.
Your choice is remembered for around 180 days via the stl_consent cookie
(and mirrored in localStorage). If you choose Reject all or turn off
Analytics or Marketing under Manage, those tags are not loaded on the
pages you view after that choice.
Most browsers also let you view, block or delete cookies through their settings, and let you opt out of advertising personalisation through tools provided by Google and other advertising platforms.
[Review item — Cookie settings reopener] A persistent "Cookie settings" control that lets visitors re-open the banner and change or withdraw their choices at any time is a required follow-up. Under POPIA, withdrawing consent must be as easy as giving it, so this control must be available before this page is taken out of
noindex. Until then, visitors who want to change their choice should contact us using the details in §9.
8. Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example when we add or remove a third-party tag, when a provider changes its cookies, or when the law or regulatory guidance changes. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be communicated through the site or, where appropriate, by email.
