SureTel

Managed IT module

Managed Backup

A separate, monitored copy of your Microsoft 365 email and files, with restores handled by SureTel.

In short

What managed backup is

SureTel Managed Backup is an add-on to Managed IT that keeps a separate copy of your Microsoft 365 mail and files. SureTel monitors the backups, restores lost or overwritten items on request, and runs test restores at the scope your schedule includes. It is bought separately from Microsoft 365 management and is not disaster recovery.

What's included

What the backup module covers

  • Separate copy of your data

Microsoft 365 mail and files backed up outside your tenant, as defined in your backup schedule.

  • Backup monitoring

SureTel checks that backup jobs complete and follows up on failures during support hours.

  • Restores on request

Lost or overwritten items restored by SureTel when you log a request.

  • Restore testing

Test restores carried out at the scope and frequency set by the schedule you purchase.

Honest limits

What backup does not promise

  • Restore-testing scope and frequency depend on the schedule purchased — there is no single standard cadence
  • No set recovery time (RTO) or recovery point (RPO) is promised unless agreed in writing
  • Backup is not disaster recovery: it does not by itself restore whole systems, servers or sites
  • Restores are handled Monday to Friday 08:00–17:00; there is no 24/7 or staffed security monitoring
  • Backup of servers or other systems beyond Microsoft 365 is scoped separately

Who it suits

A good fit if…

  • Businesses whose email and documents live in Microsoft 365
  • Teams that have lost files or mail and could not get them back
  • Owners who assumed Microsoft keeps a full backup for them
  • Managed IT customers who want backups checked by the same team

Monitoring, restore requests and scheduled test restores.

FAQs

Managed backup questions

What is managed backup?

Managed backup is a SureTel module that keeps a separate copy of your Microsoft 365 mail and files, monitors the backups and handles restores on request. It is bought separately from Microsoft 365 management.

Doesn't Microsoft already back up Microsoft 365?

Microsoft keeps the service running and offers recycle bins and retention settings, but that is not the same as an independent backup you control. Managed backup keeps a separate copy outside your tenant.

How often are restores tested?

It depends on the backup schedule you purchase. The scope and frequency of test restores are agreed in your proposal; there is no single standard cadence.

How quickly can data be restored?

Restore requests are handled during support hours, Monday to Friday 08:00–17:00. SureTel does not promise a fixed recovery time or recovery point unless one is agreed in writing.

Is backup the same as disaster recovery?

No. Backup lets you restore lost or damaged data. Disaster recovery — getting whole systems or sites running again — is a separate, scoped piece of work.

Can you back up our server too?

Server and other system backup is scoped separately to your environment. Ask during the assessment.
