Managed IT for logistics and distribution businesses
Office, dispatch and depot staff need laptops and desktops that start reliably, stay patched and are protected, with an agreed process for adding and removing access as people join, move shifts or leave. Microsoft 365 account administration is a separate module you can choose.
What the base service covers
- Remote helpdesk for ordinary user issues, within fair use and agreed scope
- Monitoring, inventory and patching for one primary laptop or desktop per managed user
- Software vulnerability management and SentinelOne endpoint protection (EDR)
- Vendor coordination, documentation and a monthly service summary
From R500 per managed user per month excl. VAT on a 12-month agreement. The normal minimum for the base service is R7,500 per month; smaller agreements need management approval. Microsoft 365 management, licences, backup, servers, networks, onsite work and projects are separate. See Managed IT pricing.
Support hours and onsite visits
- Remote-first support Monday to Friday, 08:00–17:00, excluding South African public holidays
- Critical (P1) issues: initial response within 60 minutes during contracted support hours — a response target, not a guaranteed fix time
- Onsite visits when needed: R450 per hour (minimum one hour) plus R4.95/km return travel, with no extra charge for travel time
- No guaranteed onsite arrival time, and no after-hours or 24/7 cover in the base service
Managed IT is delivered remote-first across Gauteng from SureTel's Krugersdorp base; onsite visits are arranged and quoted when needed. Voice and connectivity can serve wider areas, but that does not extend onsite IT support beyond Gauteng.
Everyday problems
Where logistics IT tends to break down
- A dispatch laptop won't start before the morning run
- Monitoring and patching reduce surprises, and remote helpdesk gets the user working again during support hours.
- Shift handover depends on whoever knows the passwords
- Admin access and key accounts are documented at onboarding so handover does not depend on one person.
- Leavers still have access weeks later
- An authorised leaver process is agreed at onboarding and carried out within contracted service hours; Microsoft 365 accounts are handled by the management module where chosen.
- Branch and depot issues bounce between suppliers
- SureTel coordinates with your network, connectivity and software vendors so you are not chasing each one yourself.
- No one knows what is installed on which PC
- Endpoint inventory shows each managed device, its software and its patch status in the monthly summary.
- A ransomware scare on a shared machine
- SentinelOne endpoint protection runs on managed devices; device isolation authority is agreed at onboarding. Incident recovery is scoped separately.

Who it suits
A good fit if…
- Logistics, distribution or courier businesses with roughly 15–50 office and depot users in Gauteng
- Teams with regular joiners, leavers or shift changes
- Businesses relying on one person or an informal helper for IT
- Companies that want devices, internet and phones handled by one team
Typical requirements
Common IT situations for logistics and distribution businesses
These are typical setups we scope during an assessment, not customer stories.
Head office plus a depot
Admin staff at head office and a smaller team at a depot. Managed users' primary devices are in the base; each site's router, Wi-Fi and cabling are scoped separately.
Shared PCs on the warehouse floor
Dispatch terminals used by several people across shifts. Shared and extra endpoints are not part of the per-user base and are scoped and priced on their own.
Frequent joiners and leavers
Seasonal or contract staff who need access for a few months. A clear joiner and leaver process, with Microsoft 365 accounts handled by the separate management module where purchased.
Where SureTel's role ends: Operating fleet tracking, warehouse management (WMS), transport management (TMS) and other logistics applications is outside the standard Managed IT scope and stays with your agreed software provider. SureTel looks after the managed devices those systems run on and coordinates with the provider from that side.

FAQs
Managed IT questions from logistics and distribution businesses
Does SureTel manage our fleet tracking, WMS or TMS?
Operating fleet tracking, warehouse management and transport management applications is outside the standard Managed IT scope and stays with your agreed software provider. SureTel manages the devices those systems are used on and coordinates with the provider when an issue involves their product.
Are shared warehouse and dispatch PCs included?
The base covers one primary laptop or desktop per named managed user. Shared terminals, scanners and extra endpoints are scoped and priced separately after the assessment.
Can you support staff across shifts?
Support runs Monday to Friday, 08:00–17:00, excluding South African public holidays. After-hours and 24/7 cover are not part of the base service; shift handovers are planned around those hours.
Do you look after our depot networks?
Site routers, Wi-Fi, cabling and firewalls are separate from the per-user base. SureTel can scope network work per site and coordinate with existing network or connectivity suppliers.
How much does Managed IT cost for a logistics business?
Managed IT starts from R500 per managed user per month excl. VAT on a 12-month agreement, with a normal minimum of R7,500 per month for the base service. Smaller agreements need management approval. Modules, onsite work and projects are additional.
Is backup included?
No. Managed backup is a separate module. What is backed up and how often restores are tested depend on the schedule purchased.
